    What are Botox and dermal fillers?

    Botox (botulinum toxin) is an injection that relaxes the small muscles that cause expression lines, softening forehead lines, frown lines between the brows and crow's feet around the eyes. Dermal fillers are gels, usually made of hyaluronic acid, that restore lost volume and define features such as the lips, cheeks, under-eye hollows, jawline and chin, and soften deeper folds like nasolabial lines.     Facial Assessment

    Dr. Uzma studies your facial structure, muscle movement and skin quality, listens to your goals, and explains what Botox, fillers or a combination can realistically achieve.

    Treatment Plan

    You agree a plan covering the areas, product and expected result before anything is injected. Medical history and suitability are checked first.

    Injections

    Numbing cream is applied where needed. Botox takes around 10–15 minutes; fillers usually 20–45 minutes depending on the areas treated.

    Review

    Botox settles over about two weeks, when a review is offered. Filler results are visible immediately and refine as any swelling settles over a few days.

    Botox usually lasts 3 to 4 months, after which muscle movement gradually returns. Hyaluronic acid fillers last about 6 to 18 months depending on the area and product. Results vary between patients.

    When injected by a qualified, experienced doctor using an approved product, Botox has a long safety record. Temporary side effects can include small bruises, mild headache or, rarely, a drooping brow or eyelid that settles as the product wears off. Problems are far more common when injections are done by untrained people or with unapproved products.

    Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This is one reason Dr. Uzma uses hyaluronic acid fillers for most facial areas.
